Implemented in 2009, the San Luis Obispo County's Capital Facilities and Technological Needs (CFTN) work plan involves the development of the county’s electronic health record (using Cerner/Anasazi programs). This system's goal is to increase technological capacity to improve mental illness service delivery. Funds were implemented in 2009 to transform clinical and administrative information systems, a Behavioral Health Electronic Health Record (BHEHR) System, allowing for a "secure, real-time, point-of-care, client-centric information resource for service providers" and the exchange of client information.
