Crime Prevention and Public Information

The Crime Prevention Unit and the Public Information Unit of the County of San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office provides the general public with up-to-date information to reduce their probability of becoming the victim of a crime. 
 

Crime Stoppers

The County Sheriff's Crime Stoppers service is a countywide, non-profit, community program that unites the public, the media and law enforcement in the fight against crime. Crime Stoppers offers anonymity and cash rewards to citizens who furnish information leading to the arrest and indictment of felony crime offenders. 

Explorer Program

The County of San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office provides young men and women, 14-21 years of age, the opportunity to experience law enforcement first-hand through the Sheriff's Explorer program. Explorers can determine the extent of their interest in a law enforcement career as they are trained in many areas of the field including: building searches, weapons training, weaponless defense techniques, CPR/First Aid, and many more activities. 

Sheriff's Youth Summer Camp

The Sheriff's Youth Summer Camp is a national gang and violence prevention program built around school-based, law enforcement officer-instructed classroom curricula. G.R.E.A.T is designed to prevent delinquency, youth violence, and gang membership for children. The program is focused on preventing bullying, respecting others, making good life choices, conflict resolution, anger recognition and management. 

Internet Safety for Students and Parents

Internet Safety presentations are offered by the County of San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office to inform students and parents about cyber-bullying, Internet Safety, and texting/cell phone safety. In this presentation, you will learn about the potential risks for students and how parents can inform and protect their children with proper knowledge of security and privacy settings. 

Neighborhood Watch Interactive

The Neighborhood Watch Interactive program from the County of San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office allows for a neighborhood watch program in any unincorporated area of San Luis Obispo County from the comfort of one's living room.

Project Lifesaver

Project Lifesaver relies on proven technology and a specially trained search and rescue team. Clients that are enrolled in the Project Lifesaver program wear a personalized wristband that emits a tracking signal. When caregivers notify the local Project Lifesaver agency that a person is missing, a search and rescue team responds to the wanderer's area and starts searching with the mobile locator tracking system. 

Sheriff's Citizen Academy

The County of San Luis Obispo (SLO) Sheriff's Office offers the Sheriff's Citizen Academy to the SLO County Community. The Citizen Academy will provide community members with an inside look at the Sheriff's Office and all facets of law enforcement.
